New Year's @ Bangalore - Cont'd
Previously on The Motorcycling Diary...
The plan for the last day of 2005 was to take Greene and go to Sowparni's home for lunch. I did not want to ride through Bangalore and get caught in its traffic. Handling traffic at Madras everyday is bad enough; I do not want to do the same when on holiday.
So Greene and I took an autorickshaw.
I have been to Sowparni's place before. What I remember about the last trip were two things-
The labyrinth we have to take before reaching her place.
And one stretch where vehicles keep right instead of left. The first time I saw that stretch I thought we entered an invisible portal and reached America!
The highlight of this visit was Sowparni's sister complimenting me on my sideburns. My very first. Yay!
After a long walk which included philosophies of varying kinds, Greene and I left for home.
I had one more engagement. Taking Noah and Florence out to dinner, which was a mini-fiasco with shoddy service that slowly ate away at my patience. I have never been this patient before!
Dinner was followed by milk-based non-alcoholic beverages. And we welcomed the New Year by having chocolate.
An uneventful end, yet peaceful.
The New Year's began with my first book of the year - One Night @ The Call Center.
I spent the evening with Sowparni and IceMan. Much like 2004, except that this time we did not have a certain toinked friend with us.
And the day ended with Noah and Florence taking me out to dinner. Thankfully, that night was not a reprisal of the previous outing.
The plan for the next day? Returning to Madras.
To be continued...

Sowparni, not your area. The stretch is on the way to your area.
